Choli k peeche kya hai? Chunari k neeche kya hai?
The question in the song wasn’t really much of a suspense because our dirty yet scientific minds were aware that the girl in the song is talking about breasts but dude, Madhuri Dixit answered it out of the box and said-“choli main dil hai mera”…wait, what?
I couldn’t really understand the song much as a kid but being a 20 year old I know that- Choli k peeche dil nhi alveolar sacks hain that too with tips or breasts or boobs or tits (whatever gets you excited and drooling!)
Indian men have some obsession with tight blouses and cleavage, which can be explained as we are horny as fuck but at the same time we are sanskari too.
Why are women allowed to show as much of their breast as they’d like, as long as there is a tiny piece of fabric covering the nipple?
The sexualized part of the breast is allowed to be advertised and utilized for marketing purposes, while the anatomical part which sustains human life is to be hidden and shamed!?
It would almost be more acceptable to cover every photo of the inappropriate female nipple with the appropriate male nipple. Somehow the identical flesh blots are different. This might just be another feminist rant, but I really do not understand why women’s boobs cannot be shown in the media or in public.
Why is my body not “appropriate” to be shown in public?
Why am I shamed for having breasts if I show them?
Why is it acceptable for men to have their chests exposed?
What did I do to deserve being taunted, cat-called, called “slutty” for wearing things that show them?
Why, if I am showing any cleavage whatsoever, am I asking to be harassed?
Tell me why, because I don’t understand.
When we’re born, boobs are great. In fact, they’re more than great. They’re vital. They keep us alive. And as a mother, how intoxicating it must be that you can do something like that for someone you love so much.
After that moment, where does this sense of pride, wonder, amazement, and functionality go? Why is there suddenly so much shame? Why was I given dupatta at the age of 13 and was told to wear it till my last breath?
It’s not just about wanting to take our shirts off when it’s hot at the beach. It’s about not wanting every generation of girls that comes after us to feel ashamed of their bodies.
It’s about a deep-seated, instinctual desire to be proud of our bodies, to love them, and to show the world that a topless woman is not inappropriate, or scandalous. She is natural, she is beautiful, and she is no different from any man without a shirt.
This is not about a bunch of hippie girls who want to walk around naked and show off their boobs. These are women who are tired of being told that their bodies are something to hide.
These are citizens who want their voices to be heard because they are screaming for equality.
I’m actually one of those people who is uncomfortable with nudity. No, it doesn’t stem from low self-confidence or a strict Hindu upbringing; I’m just one of those people who aren’t the biggest fans of nudity but I am an advocate for people “doing them,” totally and completely being who they are.
I believe perhaps a more powerful Instagram tag would go something along the lines of “free OUR bodies”, because a woman is more than just her body, and certainly more than just her nipples.
I am vocal on social media and I shall remain so. If we don’t speak up about what is right and what is wrong, then why are we here? Dude, you can’t stop me because even my sanitary pad has wings!

Why do we have to wear clothes at all? There are a number of places in remote Africa where both males and females remain ‘topless’, i.e. they don’t cover the upper part (above human trunk) of their body. It simply means that over the period of time (reference : human evolution), there are certain dos and don’ts that have been prescribed and practised by humans. These dos and don’ts change as per the societal norms. Yoga which was earlier considered as ‘Hindu’ is today another way of exercise and while positioning themselves in different aasanas, nobody finds anything ‘HINDU’, about such exercise. So, I consider tits/boobs as something which is like ‘yoga’ of today and over the period of time, people will get rid of associating this with only females, rather anatomy will take effect over ‘sexism’…
