One rarely comes across someone like Ivaanka who is so illuminated not just from the heart but also from their outer appearances that they just blow away every single person who meets them!
From her smile, to her rustic rich Bengali saree look, to her positivity and grit, it was hard to stop the conversation with her!
I’ve had the privilege to invite such a person for the StayUncle Live last Friday!
Ivaanka Das is one of the iconic persons in India who made a sex change, transforming into a gorgeous woman, the first transgender to carry her bald look like an absolute boss, an actor, dance choreographer, fashion stylist and a creative director!
Phew!! That’s a lot of woman!!
Ivaanka broke so many myths about how people assume ideas about transgenders, delved deep into her transitioning time and proudly talked about her successes.

Scrapping of 377 – The law may have been scrapped but the society is not going to change overnight.
However since the last 2 years, transgenders are being given an opportunity to make a contribution in the society.
Pehle guna vichar karo phir darshan vichar karo is another thing that Ivaanka urges people to do.
Instead of judging people by their looks, see how they are as people, as transgender are people too. It doesn’t matter how an individual looks.
A man came to me and said you are man, how can you behave like a woman. To him I replied…I I am a woman, with masculine features. And that Is why it is so important to understand who you are.
To all the young people who are confused and are still discovering themselves Ivaanka says this :
Build your confidence first.
You need to know what is your existence and you need to find that out. It is the most important part of the journey.
Everybody has their own ways of finding themselves, whether you meditate, explore the world, meet many people. Do what suites you.
It is easier in the current times to find out who you are because in our generation we did not have the exposure that young people do these days.
So we have gone through the rough road to make it easier for the younger ones.
Spend time with yourself alone every day for a few minutes. Meditate, because it quietens the mind and reduces the chaos. Then you will be able to hear that inner voice. Ask yourself what you are.
Forgive everyone who doesn’t understand your journey and forgive yourself as well. Love yourself, and to do that you need to understand who you are.
Before you come out to your family, stand on your feet and become financially independent, else they might think you are not even mature enough to take such a big decision.
Transgenders and eunuchs are different. Transsexuals are different. After becoming a transsexual if you get a surgery then you become a female. So please understand the difference.
