Well that's normal reaction of any person because of the insecurity they feel about their daughters and sisters. I personally feel if one has the faith and trust over their daughter or sister, they must not feel insecure about this act. It's necessity of life. Mating, food, shelter, clothing are the necessities of any organism on earth. The social response may have caused people to hesitate when talked on this matter.
